  • Trail description:

The Oberseite Alpine flower and panorama trail in St. Jakob im Defereggental (Defereggen valley) provides a good insight into the colourful diversity of alpine plants and their living conditions in the high mountains. From Trogach (parking possibility), it is a leisurely walk to the actual starting point at the edge of the forest above St. Jakob. Gradually climbing higher, you will discover numerous flowering plants in the Alpine grasses right up to the Seespitzhütte (Seespitz hut). The natural history guide from the Austrian Alpine Club of the same name provides useful information about the flora and fauna as well as about the healing properties of some Alpine plants at each stopping point. From Seespitzhütte, the "short circular route" runs east as a mountain trail and then branches off downhill through the avalanche barrier in the direction of the starting point.

There is also a "long circular route" option for the Oberseite Alpine flower and panorama trail – you will remain on the mountain trail longer from Seespitzhütte going east to Reggnalm and then descend into the Trojeralmtal (Trojeralm valley).
