Our visitor centres make ideal starting points for expeditions into the National Park. In them you will find modern, interactive, permanent exhibitions as well as fascinating special exhibitions and information areas where visitors are catered for by highly trained staff.

June: Monday to Friday 10am - 12 noon
July - September: Monday to Saturday, daily 10am - 6pm
October: Monday to Friday 10am - 12 noon and 2pm - 6pm

Free of charge

Guided tours for groups (from 10 persons): students/children € 1, adults €1.50 per person NEW AUDIO GUIDE SYSTEM German, English, Italian and French: 4 € per person (free of charge with the Ostirol Card!)


Group support:
To be pre-booked by phone (available for larger groups or tourist groups at all times, provided bookings are made with sufficient advance notice)
Charges for guided tours for groups: 1.50 € per person, student/children € 1 per person


Description:
The goal:
To amaze and offer real life adventure. Besides that, the National Park Information and Service Area, and the exhibition units with an emphasis on adventure and interaction set the stage for the highlights of the National Park itself. And don't forget that lots of displays feature materials that have never before been shown in any of the other exhibitions or information facilities in the whole of the National Park.

Schwerpunktsetzung:

Das BIOS Nationalparkzentrum Mallnitz vereint viele Funktionen unter einem Dach: Mit der Dauerausstellung "Entdecke unsichtbare Wunder" sowie den jährlich wechselnden Sonderausstellungen ist es ein beliebtes Ausflugsziel für die ganze Familie.

Mit seinem vielseitigen Bildungsprogramm hat sich das BIOS Nationalparkzentrum Mallnitz auch als Bildungszentrum etabliert. BIOS ist Veranstaltungsort für interessante Seminare und zugleich Treffpunkt für zahlreiche, zu speziellen Themen entwickelte Projekttage für Schulklassen.

Auch für die jüngsten Forscher in den Kindergärten wird jedes Jahr ein eigenes Angebot entwickelt. Im eigens reservierten Kindergartenmonat lässt es sich ungestört spielen und experimentieren.

Nationalparkzentrum Mittersill

In 2007 the "National Park Worlds" were set up in Mittersill; there you can find:


• the National Park Worlds
• the Hohe Tauern National Park Science Centre
• the Salzburg National Park Authority, and
• the Hohe Tauern National Park Holiday Region GmbH

Zentrum Aussenansicht

The National Park Worlds consist of nine stopping points. At each of them the visitor gains an impression of the exciting cultural and natural landscapes of the Hohe Tauern National Park. One highlight is the "flying-eagle-panorama", in which the visitor is taken on breathtaking filmed flights and soars over the most beautiful landscapes, valleys and summits.

Children and young people up to 15 years of age: € 4
Children under 5 years of age: free of charge
Reduction on presentation of an appropriate ID-card: € 6

Groups (from 15 persons): € 6
Guided tours for groups with a National Park Ranger (by arrangement): € 2 supplement per person

Parents pay for one child only; no admission charge for any additional children!

Flying-Eagle-Panorama
With the aid of five screens the visitor will get insights into the fascinating natural and cultural landscape of the Hohe Tauern National Park, as seen through the eyes of a golden eagle. The stunning impression you get will enable you to identify lots of new walking destinations!

Marmots and Co.

In this area the focus is on the adaptation strategies used by animals living in the high mountains and on high-altitude pioneers from the animal and plant worlds. On top of that you will get insight into the life of a marmot family thanks to a large marmot den.

im 3D-Kino Tauern treasures

Visitors take a closer look at the formation of the Alps and their rich treasure of minerals and ores with a 15-minute film in the 3D-adventure cinema. The ‘Tauern Window' is the most representative geological feature of the Hohe Tauern.
Bergwaldgalerie Mountain forest

The "mountain forest" area gives an account of the commonest species of trees and animal as well as their tracks. Columns resembling tree trunks help unveil the secrets of the mountain forest levels.
Leben auf der Alm Alpine pasture summer

The cultural landscape is considered to be the characteristic feature of the Hohe Tauern National Park. Put yourself in the place of a mountain farmer and get to know some fascinating things about the labour-intensive life on an alpine pasture. You can enjoy the terrific alpine pasture landscape with all five senses and in all weather conditions.

Observe the species-rich animal world of a high-mountain stream - from the perspective of a crawfish. Microscopically small animals, fish and water birds are transformed into huge monsters.
Lawinendom Projektion Avalanche dome

Snow and water are our constant companions in the Hohe Tauern National Park. With the help of a 270° projected image, the visitor is placed in the midst of bursting avalanches and rushing waterfalls. This makes the energy and power of the element water things that can be experienced personally.
am Gletscher Glacier world

The glacier is considered as a force that forms the landscape and as a reflection of today's climate. Past and future scenarios are played out, using the Pasterze glacier as an example.
